Here are a couple of ideas for organizing kids' gear.
Keep a trunk or storage bench close to the door your kids use most often. Make sure each child has a space to store his or her backpack, shoes and other outdoor gear. This will prevent them from tracking mud and dirt throughout your home, and it's a good way to keep the mess out of sight!
Place some hooks lower on the wall so your kids can hang their own jackets, hats and umbrellas. Try color-coding them or putting name tags on each hook.

Be Prepared for Back-to-School Season
For kids' rooms and high traffic areas, choose flooring that is generally durable and/or one that camouflages some of the dust and dirt, like berber carpeting. A unique flooring idea for a kid's room or a playroom is to create a "wet side" and a "dry side" by combining two different types of flooring. Put carpet on one side so your kids can play games, read or study, and choose a laminate or vinyl for the wet side, where kids can use paint, markers, glue and clay. If your kids have the tendency to get fingerprint and magic marker on the walls, try painting the room with semi-gloss or washable paint. For a more unique look, extent the laminate or vinyl flooring half way up the walls. Sticky handprints, paint or dirt can be easily washed off these surfaces.

Area Rugs
Fashionable. Functional. Versatile. Area rugs serve a wide variety of purposes in home décor. They can be used to tie the look of a room together much as a scarf pulls an outfit together. They can help define separate spaces within a larger room or add a touch of warmth and color to a hardwood or tile floor. They can also serve as a link between rooms. And these are just some of the possibilities.
